Project overview

A concept for a compact building on a narrow Kilimani plot, with small office suites at street level and apartments on the upper floors. The design focuses on making the most of a constrained site while keeping each unit well lit and ventilated.

Design objectives

  • Make efficient use of a narrow urban plot
  • Separate access for office tenants and residents
  • Give every apartment daylight, ventilation and private outdoor space

Key considerations

  • Limited space for site storage and crane positions
  • Neighbouring buildings close to the boundaries
  • Parking and access requirements on a busy residential street

    Logistics as part of design

    Construction sequence and crane access were considered during design, as the plot leaves little room for storage or manoeuvring on site.
